The company Walter Tosto, which has been appointed for the manufacturing of components for the main international project on fusion energy ITER, supports three grants for the Master in Fusion Energy – Science and Engineering – organized by the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Such a contribution is essential for young engineers’ training who will deal with the development of new technologies in the nuclear fusion field.

On Wednesday July 6th the students will attend a lesson at Walter Tosto’s headquarter, where the engineers of the company will illustrate the several phases of the project such as executive design, quality assurance, welding, NDE procedures, metrology and deformation controls. The students will have the opportunity to visit Walter Tosto’s workshops in order to examine the manufacturing steps of the components which are currently being machined in Chieti. The students will be accompanied by Professor Francesco Romanelli of the Industrial Engineering Department at University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, ex director of JET (Joint European Torus), the biggest nuclear fusion reactor ever manufactured in the world, and of Eurofusion, the European Consortium for the development of nuclear fusion energy.
